Administrative Assistant

The Nak’azdli Whut’en Public Works Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Department is seeking a reliable individual to assist with various clerical and administrative duties on a full-time basis.

 Reports to: O & M Manager

Number of Positions: 1

Type:    Full Time

Wage Grid: $21.05 - $24.34 based on experience

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and clerical assistance to the Public Works O&M Manager.
  • Review and complete log book entries of all heavy equipment usage, hourly, dates, time, location for billing purposes.
  • Type, photocopy and compile letters, memos, notices, or other documents as requested.
  • Maintain physical and digital filing systems.
  • Keep the O&M manager’s office tidy and organized.
  • Other relevant tasks as may be necessary.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of grade 10 plus other training or education.
  • Effective working skills of MS Work, Excel and e-mail.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Good time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with all employees, management and community members.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.

 Working Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Extensive computer usage and sitting for long periods of time.
  • Ready and able and willing to work outdoors in all-weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and during weekends.

 Hours of Work:

Your regular hours of work will be from 8:00am - 4:00pm for 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday up to 35 hours per week, and it is expected that all work will be completed within your regular working hours, however, you may be required from time to time to work outside your normal hours of work.
