What is Nak’azdli Youth & Recreation?
Our program is one of the many community services offered by Nak’azdli Whut’en.
We offer programs, support, and activities to ALL local youth both indigenous and non-indigenous. Although some of our programs and activities are specifically for Nak’azdli Whut’en band members the majority of our programs are open to all youth (6-18 years) unless otherwise stated.
The Nak’azdli Recreation Department runs the Nak’azdli Youth Center, located behind the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena (across from Petro). Although many of our programs are hosted at the center, we also plan regular activities outside of the center, including weekly gym activities at Kwah Hall.
We strive to provide youth with cultural and land based experiences, as well as activities that promote physical, mental, emotional and social development in a safe environment.
Our goal is to provide youth with safe, inclusive programs that encourage growth in a fun and healthy way.
The Nak’azdli Youth Center is a drop-in center that is open to ALL youth in our community, both on and off reserve. We welcome anyone to come in and check out our center and meet our staff.
“I see the youth center as a great place to hang out with friends after school, stay in touch with my community and make new friends.”
